Could someone please explain how I am supposed to use the tracking daily of smokes.......do I enter how many cigs I have consumed by the end of the day or for each smoke I have, I make an individual entry?

I don't think there's one correct way to use it; whatever helps you - whether it is noting each cigarette as it happens or tallying at the end of the day - on your journey will be a-ok. :)

Dear Dragonlady,

What a great name you have.

I enter cigarettes in a little diary with a tally.

I can count how many I have had with a quick notch.

I then forget about them and get on with living.

It is easy to count the groups of five.

I count to five each day.

I am too dumb to count them any other way.

I am not very bright.

I have trouble voting.

I don't watch television.

I have mood swings.

People say I don't have the right to express my emotions.

I had my children taken from me.

I get upset about it.

Smoking must stop being my answer.

They are no longer children.

Those years are gone.

They want me to quit.

I still talk to them.

Hurts alot though.

I can't drink either.

I have got used to that.

Let's divide the day.

I have more experience being smoke free in the morning.

So frome midnight through to midday. Two smokes at the most.

Two for the afternoon.

Two for the night.

So, If I quit or cut down, I'm an acheiver.

From sixty a day, down, I am still acheiving.

I can quit for eight weeks.

Hi penelopejane.....thanks for your advice and you sound like a very strong person. You are achieving many things every day.....congratulations. You have a wonderful day as I am hoping to while cutting back on the ciggies. I made a paper doll yesterday and then dressed it......maybe silly to some but I had fun and was not racing out for a cig all the time :-)

I cut down by having another empty box and putting a certain amount in that when they were gone I knew how many I'd had good luck

Thanks Papa1 I have been taking a certain number of cigs out and putting them to 1 side with the plan that is all I can have for the day bu infortunately I tend to raid the packet if I use my ration but it is early days yet so I will keep doing this:-)

Whilst cutting down its cool to count how many darts you have and what time you had them. I reckon it's also good to record where you had them , what had you just finished that made you feel like a dart and how you were feeling. I made up happy / sad faces and just made it easy to record. I used to like a dart in the man cave downstairs, last couple of days I have avoided it as I know that would be a definite trigger. It helps heaps to have this info when you work out your quit plan. Good luck x
