Cold Turkey

Here I go again tomorrow June 1st is my quit date. I've tried many times before but cold turkey was my most successful quit of 4 months. I have got to the stage in my life where it's important to have quality of life. I've been a heavy smoker 40 a day but it all ends tomorrow. Wish me luck I know I can do this.

Hi, I wish you all the luck in the world. Yes, I know you can do this too. Stay strong, your doing the right thing. Here's to a happier, healthier life for you. All the best.

Hope your doing ok today. It's tough but you can get through it. Staying on here and reading as much as I could helped me hugely in the first week & actually I'm still here every day. I also started walking each day and ate lots of eucalyptus lollies & chuppa chups, keeping busy & cleaning helped, lots of water & excercise is great too. Avoid alcohol at all costs. Once I was into about the 2nd or 3rd week I was really thinking about the reality of smoking & what it did to you because previously I would ignore that stuff as we all do - we don't want to know about it so I googled the effects smoking had on others and read some really terrible horror stories. Some of those images pop into my head when I'm feeling like going back and I say no way. I don't want to get sick or have a stroke or start getting body parts chopped off like others have had done because it was too late. I don't want to sound morbid but this is the reality of it & couldn't bare having my family look after me in that state because of something I willingly did to myself. It's not fair on anyone. Give yourself a reward for getting through the days, then weeks etc.....good luck

Hello, I am starting to day also. I am a bit panicked but lets go day by day together and smash this habit! Good luck and give it your all.

I started last Saturday.. cold turkey. Good luck to all of us. Exercise really helps, even if its just a short walk. So far, the craving for a cigarette is huge, however calm deep breaths have helped, exercise and a bowl of hummus with lots of celery/carrot sticks (so I don't pile on the weight that took me forever to lose)... Just wish I had someone to talk to...none of my family smoke, so they simply don't 'get it'

Good luck. We can do it! I went cold turkey on Friday 29th may 2015 after 10 or so years smoking. I'm just tired of being a smoker. So far so good. I'm so happy with myself that it is really spurring me on.

Good luck, I hope your first few days have been ok. Just believe in yourself, cause you can do this.

Good Luck l have just registered and have set a date as this Friday to go cold turkey
Thought Friday would be a good day as l volunteer that day so will be busy for 8 hours

Hi kel57, you can do this. Best wishes. I am 10 months into my quit cold turkey. Its the best thing I ever done for myself. I am very happy with myself. Stick to your quit, n never take another puff. Free yourself from nicotine addiction. It can be done!
