bought a e-cig today...

OK - so I was at the tobacconist today and purchased a nicotine-free e-cig to help with the hand-to-mouth habit. 2nd week on Champix and desire to smoke real cigarettes has been reduced by at least half (some days much more). Really unsure about these e-cigs, but thought I'd give it a try. It's been surprisingly helpful and I use it when on the phone or computer.

My dog is sick (stress!!!) and I'm expecting the vet to arrive in about 5 mins. Sucking on the e-cig helps. Will take it to my doc and see what he says. They're certainly a lot cheaper than real cigs. And...combined with the Champix may be all the tools I need to quit.

Good luck with your e cigs, that is one thing I haven't tried!!! Thanks for the suggestion. Good luck on your journey, and I hope your dog is ok.

Thanks so much Roberta! My darling doggie has been prescribed the right medication so he should respond very quickly. I really wanted a few stress-free days to focus on my cut-down-to-quit plan, but life had other things in store for me *smile*

I went to visit Flower Power with a friend of mine today, plus her 3 children. I took my e-cig with me as I don't want to smoke around her children. I managed the whole outing + 2 car trips without a real cigarette!!! Very challenging, and my hands were trembling & shaking the whole time, but I did it!!! WOO-HOO!!! Just about to finish my 2nd week on Champix and smoked 10% of what I usually smoke today.

Side-effects of Champix in 2nd week are some dizziness, some balance issues, minor headache, dreadful insomnia & vivid dreams/nightmares. BUT - desire to smoke has reduced profoundly and yesterday I butted one out halfway through, because I just didn't want it anymore.

TheJeff83 wrote about the difference between addiction and habit and I've been thinking a lot about this. I feel like Champix helps me fight my addiction to cigarettes (my nicotine addiction) and the e-cigs help me fight the hand-to-mouth habit.

Cheers

My mantra for today is: Nothing worth having ever came easy

Initially, I was opposed to the use of e-cigs, but the brand I chose is Australian made, laboratory tested and guaranteed not to contain nicotine.
