Finally, about to head off to bed and im super anxious to wake up to the unknown, have had three attemps already this year but a whole heap more confident because this time i have my partner at my side, together we are going to kick the habit, although, i am a realist and i know it will probably be just as hard quitting together than it has been trying to quit on my own, im hopeful we can do this!! Any advice is welcome & id also love to hear from other couples who have gone on the quitting journey together, ie. What to ecpect & situations to avoid :) i am 25 years old, he is 32 & we have two young children under 2..more than enough reason to kick this thing in the butt! Love to hear from anyone, even just to say hi, and im equally happy to support anyone who needs, no doubt i will be spending alot of time on here :) well here we go, wish me luck guys!

The first week is awful no getting away from it but it really really does get easier. Have some nice drinks, some boiled lollies some gum and icy poles if you like them. Anything to put in your mouth that isn't a smoke! I think quitting with your partner might be hard in terms of feeling cranky ... just walk away if you do and try not to get into any arguments :-) Good luck x

In about 3 hours I will have completed day 5. It has not been exactly pleasant but I have made it through and you can too. It has gotten easier over the days and even after 48 hours I started to feel better. I smoked about 18 a day for a good 25 years and I am now very grateful that I'm a non smoker.

I found deep breathing helped hugely in the first couple of days and was I was thinking of cigarettes and smoking almost constantly. I came to see the always thinking of smoking as a positive as it meant I was not actually smoking.

Good luck,

S

hi, best of luck for your programme. don't make it an event it is a continuous process. first you admit that you are losing one of your good(bad) friend for ever. because when you are under quit programme you feel as if he is good friend but after quit and a month you feel you have lost a bad friend . drink lot of water, eat lot of fruits, carrot and when ever you feel craving try saulted ground nut .
