Nicotine Patch

Hi there, just have a question about the nicotine patch.
The 24 hourly nicotine patches come with 3 dosages, 21mg, 14mg and 7mg.
If a smoker take 10 cigarretes per day, he will only take 1mg nicotine into the blood stream (average nicotine contained in a cigarette is 0.1mg). However, smokers have 10 or more cigarettes a day are recommended to strat from the 21mg patch which releases nicotine 1mg/hr over 24 overs.
Compared with the 1mg nicotine taking from cigarettes, is the patch contain too much nicotine?
Urgent question. Thanks!

G'day Hailey,
I wouldn't worry too much about having too much nicotine from the patches.
Previously I smoked 25 cigarettes a day and it was recommended to me by a quit smoking psychologist to wear 2 full strength patches. While this is unorthodox it works really well. I checked it with my doctor and he gave it the ok, if it keeps me off the smokes. Apparently the nicotine from the patch is a steady minimal dose compared to the massive spike you get from a cigarette.
My advice is check it out with your doctor.

Hi Hailey. I was 15 pday smoker when I quit 2 years ago and had smoked for 55 years. I used 21mg patches for 16 hours each day, removing it when I went to bed and I do not think I would have got through without it. They seemed to assist.
