It will get easier

I am 9 days into being a non smoker.Today I had to visit the DR as have a wicked chest infection. I have been feeling pretty wretched, sick & so sore. But,and this is a big BUT ,I know it will get easier & be worth it.I am 56 & have smoked for 42 years. I have attempted & failed numerous times and this is the first time I have felt "right" about quitting. I know that whatever I may go thru in quitting, I am doing what is right for me.So I will say to you, don't quit because you feel pressured, don't quit for your partner or even for your kids, quit for you because you deserve to be free of this beast and you deserve to feel good & proud of yourself to boot. No-one can let go of an addiction for anyone but themselves. It is OK to be selfish about your reasons, and to know that your loved ones will benefit from your choice.

Hi Louie65. Stick with it. I was 55 years a smoker and have been clean 18 months. You will be a new person. Good luck.

I too am only early days like yourself but we can do it .... We will be free of this filthy habit!

55 years a smoker is a long time and a lot of habit to break, well done you Warts!!!!
Jane, we WILL be free. I don't know about you but I am feeling very positive. I have a lung infection,I ache & have insomnia at this time, but none of this is getting me down,I consider it a rite of passage that I obviously must got thru. Cheers to you both, and well done all of us!

Day one after 45 years of smoking. I feel pretty good. HOpe it lasts...you are all really helpful to me...

cdnquitter Day 1, probably the sCariest. If you are ready you will do it! I am now 2 weeks, still ill but getting some strength back & firm in my resolve. If this is your time, and only you will know, then you will get there. And reward yourself as you go. Well done and good choice.
