Hey.. I have finally decided to quit the habit after 30 odd years . Tomorrow being Sunday  will be my first day on Champix . I have been on the lozzengers for a week - which has slowed me down somewhat . 6 months ago i was having chest pains - so i had the dye put into my bloodstream-  results- all my arteries were near pristeen clear- This amazed my Doctor  as myself . Long story cut short - Stress was doing it . I am  of average weight  and the one thing im am petrified off is putting on extra weight !!!!! I have always tried to look after myself  in that dept   but i have been reading different forums  over the last day and everything is about " When you quit  you put on KGS "

There is heart failure in my family - no smoking related  mind u  but its high in my family . So i guess i need to think about my body  as im now in my 50s . I am just getting very nervous about  the outcome  when i do quit - will i blow out  in weight ? I am very determined to quit  only hope i have no  bad side effects to this medication .

Wish me luck .

Hi mrmr, I just read my story. Omg it's so nice to know that I am not the only one that feels like you.

I am day 21 smoke free and everytime I have tried to quit I have started again due to my weight gain. Not this time. Come on let's not let this excuse stop us from giving up the most toxic substance we are putting in our bodies.

Best of luck to all
