Getting Started

I had my first cigarette when I was in the 4th Grade - Wow! I didn't necessarily like it, but I was surrounded by older kids that I probably had no business hanging out with and did it to be part of the group. All throughout my childhood, I would never buy cigarettes, but definately would binge smoke in social situtations and always on weekends. Same went for college and now I'm 32 years old doing the same damn thing (obviously I buy my own now lol)
It's time to begin this journey and stop social/binge smoking for good. Come Monday mornings, my thoat hurts so bad. 9 times out of 10, if I ever have a hang over, it's from smoking the night before not how much I had to drink. It's come to the point I don't even like it anymore. I want to feel healthy.
My triggers are when I come home from work and chill outside throwing ball for my dog. It's the most relaxing part of my day. I can go all day long not wanting a cigarette, but then when I come home, I can't wait to chill outside and smoke. Another trigger is going out on the lake with our friends on the weekends or any social situation. If I'm having a drink, I want a cigarette. If I'm not drinking (like say Mon-Thurs), then I'm fine. So why can't I just stop? Well, I guess you have to start from where you stand and hopefully this iCanQuit journal will help :)
Best wishes to everyone in their journey! Thanks MH
