Hi, I have eventually had my script filled for Champix after 4 months. Today, being the 1/7/14 meant it is a new financial year and to me, means my finances will grow during the course of champix. I am very determined to make this work for me after 50 years  of smoking and about 25/day. I was hesitant to start champix after reading about the side affects (nausea, bad dreams) My Dr reasurred me it would probably happen to about 2 in 30 folk. Anyway this is day one and 1st tablet this morning  ...  will keep you posted, thanks for the support I know I will receive if I fall off the rails (hopefully not!)

Go for it Val, I've been off the smokes for over 2 years now after 53 years of smoking. I used patches for about 3 weeks.

IMHO the real secret to giving up is really wanting to and realising that no patch or pill is going to do it for you. They will help, but you have to do some hard yards yourself, and even though for a few weeks you may not think so, it will get easier the longer you go.

Hi Val, congrats on making a decision to quit! I am on on day 46 smoke free using champix, it definitely helps but like Bill said, you have to want to quit or nothing will work. Take champix with meals only, that eliminates any nausea you might get. Also take your last pill several hours before bedtime (with your dinner) and this will eliminate the crazy dreaming. I still have vivid dreams but they are never scary, actually they are pretty funny! You can do this and just wait till you have been smoke free for a few days, you won't believe how good you feel, it's amazing and that will make you want to keep going. You can do this and lots of people are here to help if you need it!
