Starting Again

Posted in Getting started
schedule 29 Jun 2014

I am starting at day one, all over again.

I quit on December 2nd of 2013 and made it till the Easter Long weekend on the patches, four and a half months. Since then I have been on and off the ciggies.

I did smoke a pack a day for about twenty years and have tried to quit so many times I can't count, with that effort in December being my best one. Iknow many of you on this site use champix, however for mental health reasons my doctor won't allow it.

So starting again on patches, right now. Cigarettes in the bin and will power ready. HERE I GO!!

You did it before, you can do it again! Never quit quitting! You can do this and just remember you still went four and a half months without smokes, so you did your health a big favour! Any time without cigs is never a waste. You can do this! All the very best to you!

What KAM said! Cold turkey is hard but definitely do-able - I did it with complete success in my thirties and was a proper non-smoker for two years. Stupidity made me think I could have just one at a party and well you all know where that led. So be strong and take one day at a time and before you know it (happened for me at 3 weeks) a Eureka moment when you suddenly realise you are free. Well done and get going!

You CAN do this! If need be, take it an hour at a time. I'm also on my first day of cold turkey after trying to quit countless times. You are not alone. I find if you can do something else for even 5 minutes, the craving disappears

Thanks for your comments every one. I just got home from work at the end of day one ( I quit last night) and I am doing great. Thanks again.

schedule 1 Jul 2014

Go with the patches and go again. Live in the day. Just do it for today. Don't forecast too much ahead of time. Just live in the moment. Do it now. Quit today.

I made the decision to cut down and quit on June 22nd.I was smoking 25 cigarettes a day.I made my quit day to be today.I am using patches and gum.I have had 10 cigs since the 22nd,which I think is great. But today,on my quit day,I had 1 cigarette!!I have a packet of cigs in the house, but am really scared to dispose of them, does that make any sense??
