Getting through the first week

schedule 17 Apr 2014

I have been a smoker for a few years, I'm 22 and the main reason I have for quitting smoking is for my little girl and the fact that I just can't afford it anymore ! I'm on my 6th day smoke free, I feel a lot better then what I did when I was a smoker the only problem I'm having is that I'm extremely bored being a stay at home mum I'm happy when I'm busy but when my little one is napping I find it hard to find things to keep my mind off it the only thing that gets me through my cravings is thinking of all the nice things I can buy my daughter with all the extra money I'll have, it makes it very hard when my partner, mum and best friend all smoke aswell, I try avoiding it but jeez it's hard with all these people smoking around me and I'm the only one not :/

Good Job!!

I've picked up the hobby of scrap booking when I get bored and those craving really kick in. Try to find something that you like to do as a hobby, because then it wont feel like a task to do it.

You are doing so well! Plus being a great role model for your little girl.

schedule 20 Apr 2014

Do you like reading? It is so important to rest while your little one is having quiet time. There are some fantastic resources at the library. It is free and they have a lot more than books these days. I have taken up knitting. I make clothes for myself and my family. It keeps my hands busy. A hobby is a great suggestion. You could take up jewellery making, paint coffee cups, or do origami. One time my children and I made 100 swans in paper and blue tacked them to my ceiling like a glorified mobile. Do some thing until you discover what it is that you really like.

Your doing so well. You really should give yourself credit and a treat. Do something nice for yourself. Like a foot massage or a bubble bath. Keep up the quiet time.

The thing you have on your side is that you've only been smoking a couple of years so it SHOULD be easier. Six days is awesome. Do not waiver and keep strong. I smoked for nearly 3 decades before finally giving it away (7+ months). You said it, for my little girl. Remember that thought when your next tempted. Good luck.
