Would love some support

I am currently on day 2 of being smoke free but I keep getting this thought that I can buy a packet and have just one per day. I logically know that that won't work and one will lead to two etc etc. Has anyone else thought like this and what did you do to get through these thoughts and stay strong

No, man. You know, I know it doesn't work. One a day? Two a day? No. You will very quickly pick up the usual number of cigarettes you previously smoked. Hey, already two days! Come on, that withdrawal symptom is half-psychological. Keep it up. Just try to imagine your new healthier and confident and clean self. Cheers.

Thanks quitforgood. What you say is so true... I just need to get it stuck in my head!!!

Actually, I have thought about that, Shas. I've tried to be more realistic. Keep it to 5 a day. But it never worked that way. I found myself smoking more than 10. I think, when it comes to smoking, there's no compromise. It's either you smoke or not. It's not something you can "reduce." Unfortunately I do still smoke, but this fact that I came to here is a lot of improvement for me because I have begun to seriously consider quitting it. You are already on the journey. 2 days? Wow, man, you proved that you can do go on without ciggies for 2 days! For someone like me, two days without smoking is unimaginable. So think to yourself. "My musle of will power is growing. I've done it for two days. So why not for a week! I can do this. I'm already feeling much better." Okay? You KNOW you can do this. Good luck man.
Hope I have myself clearly understood. Came to Sydney 1 year ago. English is not my first language. Cheers.
Keep reminding yourself of why you gave up in the 1st place. Just think how determined you were when you made up your mind to quit. You have 2 days, nearly 3, up your sleeve. You won't be happy if you have to start from scratch. It does get easier but you need to change the things you do to beat it. Don't let the cigarettes win! You are much stronger than that!
