champix week one

Hi all, I have smoked for 30 years around about 15-20 a day.
I started on champix 6 days ago and I'm ready for my quit date of Monday 24th Mar 2014. I've cut down since I started taking champix and I am currently smoking between 5 and 7 a day. I've been told that the cigaretes will start tasting bad prior to my quit date so I'm waiting for that to happen. I feel as though the cravings are dissappearing but its hard to explain it - Its as if I don't get my head telling me that I need a cigarette but its my body telling me (I'm wondering if this is the habit rather than the addiction). My quit date was Saturday 22nd but I think that trying to fill my time in during the weekend will be hard. I've got 3 busy days at work starting Monday so I'm trying to give myself a better chance at stopping by making this my quit date.
Good luck everyone

I'm currently on my first smoke free day using Champix. Smokes were making me gag towards the end of my days leading up to the quit date. It is definitely habit that tells you to have a smoke, not a genuine craving. Quitting on a Monday is probably a good idea as you'll be so busy you'll hardly think of having a smoke. Good luck!

Hi Candykid, hope everythings going okay. Thanks for your comment - I will be joining you as a non-smoker on Monday (if not before).

Im on my third day of Champix. I feel so horrible that I am dredding taking the 2 tablets from tomorrow. Got shocking nausea, side spitting headache and generally just feel horrid. The side effects are getting so bad that I am tempted to give it until Tuesday as that is a week that I've been on them and if I still feel so bad, I am stopping taking them.

Hi ashlea,
I didn't get any of these side effects. I'm on day 15 and stopped 5 days ago. I think you should ring the doctors and ask to speak to the nurse or doctor who prescribed the champix. I'm at work now so cant say alot. Good luck
