"THE FIRST ATTEMPT"

I have smoked for 30 yrs, have never attempted to quit ( because I really do enjoy a cigarette) but today I collect my patches, and i have researched will power ! And am looking forward to challenging myself on Monday. I will also be purchasing sugar free mints, I plan to not substitute my cigarette with mints all day, but have told myself the mint will be my friend to lend a hand. I know that cravings will reach their peak at 5 mins, and will decrease at 10 ( hopefully) so I will choose a mint that lasts 6 mins lol and only have the mints at craving points. I have read your stories and am inspired, so thank you and good luck to all with new challenges Donna :-)

Congrats Donna, on making the first step and deciding to quit.
I soon realised after many attempts that I don't actually enjoy a smoke,it was just the addiction talking. Sounds like you are preparing well, I find a positive mindset really important, although on bad days it can be tough. I would also recommend water to go with your mints, drinking helps!!
All the best for Monday.

i use to enjoy a smoke so much so i gave myself emphysema and that will stay with with me forever if i had of known that giving up smoking well for me anyway, was like a walk in the park i would quit years ago i decided to go cold turkey so as to get rid of nicotine as quickly as possible and have been smoke-free for 175 days well i wish you well in journey stay strong and all the best.

Thank you nic for advice about water intake, this I will def try as I do enjoy bottles of water. And also to hear that "stoprightnow" has had the willpower to achieve 175 days is amazing, this gives me assurance from success stories thank you.

The mints sound yum :) Stay positive keep focused, all the best for today Donna. Ive been doing the inhaler, e cigarette and keeping busy. The agigation is the pits and I hope you be kind on yourself if your a bit like me and become snappy though have friends with grace around you who can make for these small exceptions :) Im hoping you don't get that way. Im perservering and not giving in and thankful for the person who is my support person giving me a wide berth being around an agitated me. :) Water helps to Nic
