Scared

I was a pack a day gal for the past 40years, gave up for my 3 pregnancys but started straight back each time I have not tried to give them up for the past 27 years. I am on day 7 of champix and down to 2 cigs a day. I do miss the routine of smoking so much. It does worry me when I read of so many people giving up so many times only to go back. My quit day is in two days. Wow just writing this is giving me a craving. Good luck everyone.

Hi leawarra, someone pointed out to me that by the time I had written out a post, the intense craving would have passed. And it was so true. I hadn't even thought about quitting, assumed I was hooked for life, one day I just thought I'd give it a go. That was six months ago, and I've grown more stubborn and determined each day. All the best for quitting for good in two days. Keep posting and stay strong.

Although we can have many quit attempts, those who really want to quit will keep at it and persevere! I am one of those people leawarra. It would be good for you to just focus on your journey, understand that it is tough but if you can stay strong and POSITIVE you CAN quit. All the best.

Leawarra, you are the inspiration I came here looking for, I have been to the doctors and have started champix, my quit date is still just over a week away but I am already scared. I have a really good reason for quitting (as I'm sure we all do), I am now in my second year as a mature aged uni student studying a bachelor of education and of course I can not and do not want to be a smoking teacher, I have already set such a bad example for my own children, so the guilt will help to spur me on I guess. So after 18 yrs on 20 a day it is good to read stories like yours to encourage me. All the best to you on your journey.
