Nicotine Cannabis & Alcohol

So my quit date was the Tuesday 21st of January or day 10 of Champix. On Wednesday the 22nd I hear from a long lost cousin who wants to come visit for the Aussie Day long weekend. Of course I agree knowing full well he smokes pot and ciggies and drinks like a fish. He arrives Thursday 23/01/14 and within an hour I'm on the grog with him, rolling him joints (i dont allow bongs in the house and he cant roll) and watching him smoke 4-5 ciggies an hour. Mind you I was a big pot smoker for 30 years myself until I quit that cold turkey six months ago as I knew I could not give up nicotine with out first giving up pot. So i knew when he was here this would be my 1st big test to use willpower and stay off ciggies. Well he stayed until Tues 28th and I was nearly drunk with him every day. The temptation to light one of the joints i rolled him came along numerous times especially with plenty of grog on board. I'm more than pleased to report whilst consuming copious amounts of alcohol over the long weekend not a puff of ciggies or pot past my lips. Mind you a few times i really could have lit that joint but i did not. Alcohol certainly weakens the mind but I resisted. So now I'm on to day nine smoke free and feeling prety pleased i was able to resist all the temptations for 5 days when my cousin was here. Hope this little update story may help a few other quitters stay strong. Cheers

Congratulations, you really must be very proud of yourself. That is really a difficult situation to come through without having a puff. Keep up the good work :)

Congratulations! My quit day was day 10 on champix aswell. I slipped up and smoked a few cigs. Nowhere near as much as I would normally. But damn! Wish I had the Will power like yourself!

Thanks for your positive comments. I can admit it ain't been effen easy. Lately I think I have been feeling depressed. Very lazy very sleepy spending 12 hours or more in bed. Maybe it's the champix. Maybe it's because I'm a smoker who ain't had a smoke in over 11 days. I dunno I just keep fighting the urge but I'd love a Rollie or two. :-(

Congrats! You should be very proud of yourself! I quit using Champix as well and am on Day 24 smoke free. I also went through a depressed period and would break out into tears for no real reason. Keep up the good work! We can do it!

Thanks Bea. I'm hanging on there. Up to day 18 smoke free. I feel a little better breathing wise but still very dopey and lazy and spending 12 hours or more a day in bed. Mind you I'm lucky to get about 3-5 sleep though. I just take it day by day but would already hate myself if I start smoking again. Stay strong fellow quitters. Supposedly I've saved nearly $300 on tobacco so far I just wish I knew where it was. :-)
