Here goes nothing

Hi everyone. I have signed up to try and get some extra help and learn from others experiences and stories.
I've been smoking heavily since I guess I could say when my dad passed away to cancer I was 18 years old and I'm now 30. I had a few random cigs before that but I think that was when the addiction kicked in. I've been smoking a pack of 25 a day since.
I've 'tried' quitting before but my willpower is terrible. I've also been a pretty big marijuana user the whole time.
Exactly one month ago I stopped smoking pot. The first few days were hard. I threw out my billy, my bowl, any weed I had left and now I don't even think about it. I'm hoping cigarettes will hav the same feeling.
I started taking champix because I know a few people who quit using them. I'm on day 17 now and I hate to say still smoking. I've cut down from 25 to 10 a day.
I think the main reason I'm still smoking is habit. They've stopped curing the crave I have but I'm still reaching for them after meals/when I drive and with coffee etc.
I know I'm supposed to give up completely 3 days ago but finding it extremely hard to quit those few cigs a day. Every time I light up I hate myself for my lack of will power.
I've only had 2 today and I'm trying my hardest to keep it under 5 by the time I go to bed. I know the 'cut down' method doesn't work but it's helping my willpower to do so.
Ive be set my final quit date to Monday. The day after Australia Day as it's a public holiday and I won't be at work etc.
wish me the best of luck. I'm gonna need it.

yes you are if really want to quit you would, you have to want to quit i have chosen cold turkey and am 181 days smoke-free champix may not be for you why not change your routine and don't reach for that cigarette well all the best and good luck.

They may not be for me but I have used them 3 years ago and I gave it up for 9 weeks. Not that long but it's the longest I've been off them.
I've tried changing my routine in many ways but still find myself reaching for the packet after certain things or after an extended period. Just have to work on my willpower

Hi Fergs,
I tried the Champix also. I did a month on them, and I quit on day 13. I am 8 months smoke free now. It is a hard road now.

So after signing up and reading a lot of stories yesterday I didn't have a cigarette all of yesterday afternoon or night. I've woken up today determined to not give in to temptation. I even canned my Australia Day celebrations because I knew it Would be hard to drink and not smoke.
Just hit the 24 hour mark.

Hi Fergs,
I hope that youre still riding the wave of being smoke free? Im on 204 days and I took Champix for close to 3 months. I had most of the side effects and some of them severe...but looking back it was totally worth it!
Hang in there - drink loads of water and keep busy!!

Hi Fergs. Just do it. I smoked pot for 30 years quit cold turkey 6 months back.. I'm now day 9 nicotine smoke free on Champix. You can do it if you really want to. Cheers
