Quitting AGAIN

Posted in Getting started
schedule 12 Dec 2013

So I had quit for a year using Champix. It worked . I was proud, running again. Then I started thinking about having one but didn't. Then had a brutal day at work , boss screamed at me for 10 minutes. Came home drank half a bottle of wine went out to the garage and took one of my husbands cigarettes. Just this one I told myself . Well that was 6 months ago. I am so angry with myself. Starting champix again today. Any advice or experienced out there 2nd time around. Not looking forward to the next little bit. The beginning of the journey. All I can say is if you quit , don't ever touch even ONE!

I am also on my second round of Champix, I was clean for about 10 months, and then also lost the battle.

From memory, I think I also stopped taking the tablets at least a few weeks before I had completed the program properly, which is something I am not going to do this time.

That was a few years ago, and I have recently decided to give it another go. I stopped smoking after day 8 of this program and have not really been overly tempted to have a smoke since then. That was only 6 days ago but all well and good so far.

I think this forum will help me, and hopefully you a lot, as I can now see there are plenty of other people out there who also have questions and are going through the same thing as we are.

Good luck Sanqueen :)

you can never have just one, you are an addict, trying to quit there is no such thing as one, you have done it before you can do it again, well all the best.

Thanks all. The boss thing was very frustrating! Especially since I hadn't done anything wrong. I've since left that job and have returned to school. He has since sung my praise.

It will be difficult during those long study periods when needing a break but I SO hate how I'm feeling since returning to the filthy habit. The champix worked before but I can't stay on it too long. Got to get control quick. Last time I was on it I started to lose my hair and got really aggressive . But that could be from not smoking too.....

Glad I have some support here. Good luck to you in your own battle. You're absolutely right we are addicts ! And need to treat it as such.

Good luck Aaron ! Sounds like your off to good start ! Keep it up your 8 days ahead of me. And I envie you . I just want to feel normal WITHOUT a cigarette!

schedule 16 Dec 2013

This is also my second time round on the Champix. Like Aaron I didn't finish the first time around, mainly due to the side effects and the stresses at work. That was three years ago. This time around I am determined to finish the course no matter how bad the side effects are ( dreams, lack of sleep mainly). This is my 33rd day without a cigarette even with my partner who still smokes. I am more determined than ever not to touch one more of those addictive, deadly cancer sticks again..ever! How nice it is to be able to breathe and run and smell and taste. Good luck with it and stay strong!

Thanks cough cough. Sorry about your wife.

When I quit last time I started running. I could not believe what my body could do! Thank you for motivating me. I need it.

I figure I'm on Christmas break now so my routine is different. It's a good time to get control.

Tomorrow I walk the dogs:D
