Oh my, the side effects I expected!!

Hi all fellow ex?? smokers... The main reason I decided to give up was that I need 3 operations over the next couple of years. Two of these procedures are elective and my surgeon has told me that she will not perform the op if I don't quit! So my first day free was Nov. 8th 2013. I'm using Champix, even after reading all the horror stories about possible side effects. My Doctor told me to expect diarrhea, he was spot on. I have read other stories and one person mentioned the passing of gas and found it amusing, yeah, right.... I don't have a dog so can't blame it and I truly feel like and old chaff cutter!!! I will live threough this for the ultimate gain! Some people in the forum, I read before I decided to try Champix, put the blame on them for a huge array of maladies. Ranging from weight gain to suicide and even Crohns disease!! I'm sorry for these people but a lot of complaints are what you would typically expect from giving up anyway. Irritability, weight gain and absolute temper tantrums are very common, But, suicide and Crohns?????? So far the only true side effect I have experienced are vivid dreams. I have had only one nightmare so far with the others ranging from winning the lotto to some quite erotic little numbers!! The latter are very amusing! My irritablity and temper are at an all time low and I am truly amazed at how easy it has been thus far. I find, as do so many others, that the hardest thing is to know what to do with your hands. So far I have gained some weight but am thinking of pulling apart a biro and shoving a filter in the end to give me the comfort of the hand to mouth without the weight gain. But is this just going to keep that habit alive?? I know how to lose weight so will try to find that willpower to achieve that result. I am in love with the whole idea of being a non smoker. I will now not have to worry about runnung out of them and can even plan an overseas holiday or two!! Ahhhh the joy! Keeping the end goals in mind should help a bit.

don't replace food for cigarettes and make sure you have the champix with food and limit your coffee intake well all the best.

Thanks for the advice. Have started on my weight loss eating plan, again, today. I always take them with food. I have NEVER been a coffee or tea drinker, preferring good old rain water instead. Right now I am looking forward to the rest of my life free of any addictions. Cigarettes, (oh, and maybe food), have only ever been the things to beat! I guess I'm lucky really, could have been a whole lot worse! Thanks again! :-)

G8 going, i almost agree with all your points, my quit date was 5th November and i'm on Champix as well. Wish u luck, it feels great to be called a non-smoker
