It's hard going

schedule 2 Oct 2013

I am into my second week on Champix and I am down to 2 cigarettes a day.  Don't really need them but the habit is hard to shake.  Have been feeling quite ill since commencing Week 2 tablets but I am determined to see this through. I have now come so far I would really be disappointed in myself if I gave up on giving up now.  My hardest times are in my car. I always lit up a soon as I started driving.  So far so good.

hi madsmoker it would be really great if you could manage to drop those last two - don't know about you but I could never keep the quantity down, it just kept creeping back up again; Lollies (tic tacs) or sips of water in the car really helped me. Good luck and stay determined, determination will be what gets you there

schedule 2 Oct 2013

Hi Larch. Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes you feel like there is no-one out there. I am attempting to drop all cigs today. This is my last day of smoking!! I will just have to take it day by day. I don't want to get over confident cause then I will likely collapse and start again. Determination, determination.....I will do this. Thanks again.

madsmoker, a good way to turn yourself off the smokes is soak your last smokes in milk let them dry out and when you feel like having one try the milk soaked one i am sure that will cure you and another good way to stop is never put another smoke in your mouth, well all the best and stay strong.

Mad smoker hang in there it does get easier i was feeling a little sick at the start of taking the champix but not enough to make me want to stop taking them. I never smoked in my car as it is new but i find i eat an apple every day on the way home from work or i have some mints in there which i eat daily, trust me you dont think at the start that the tablets will work but as soon as i hit day 14 i quit but if you were to ask me the day before i would have said no i dont think i will ever give up but i have and now its 66 days.DONT GIVE UP JUST YET. Good luck and keep posting.

Hi Madsmoker, well done on deciding to quit smoking.Do it at your own pace , everyone is different. You are doing so well and yes the Champix are a great aid, I was the same you just keep cutting down by day 13 that was it. Trust yourself... when you finally let go, you will be free. Keep coming back here, to read posts and keep focused. Be in the moment. You can do this.

Dear stoprightnow. Ha Ha the taste picture you gave me of milk soaked cigarettes was enough for me to have my first full day without a cigarette. Just the thought of it..ugggh Thanks for that.

Dear converse. I didn't think this kind of conversation would help much but it's been really great getting all this feed back. Yeah I've worked out if I take the tablet with food the nausea is not as bad. I will persevere with the tablets though. I can't believe I've come this far so soon. I've just got to hang in there. My first day with no cigs yesterday.

Hi there madsmoker try to take the champix always at the same time of day and straight after food with a full glass of water i found that helped me at the start, see how you go with the nausea then.

schedule 4 Oct 2013

Thanks sconie. I have now found that taking the tablet with a meal really does keep the nausea down a bit.
