This is my first time quitting. I am 23 and have been smoking since i was 13. I am on day 3 of taking Champix and I'm feeling excited. I don't know if the Champix has started to kick in or it's just my mind but I'm smoking slightly less than I normally do and also when having a drink I'm not lighting up every 5 minutes. I would love to know how others felt in the VERY early stages of taking Champix :)

Hi boofnz,

Firstly well done on deciding to quit smoking. I took champix too and I stopped smoking by day 13..... The first week I gradually was smoking less. I found the enjoyment was not there it felt absurd to smoke. I found I still smoked the first week, but no way near as much as normal. By the second week the no enjoyment kicked in, especially when you are up to two tab s a day. I found I'd light one up and take a few drags and nothing so i'd put it out. It will just happen gradually. Best of luck to you...keep posting here helps for feedback.

Hi boofnz (and hi Converse & Solo - nice to see you)...

Boonfnz I also used Champix and am on day 175 smoke free. Very similar to Converse and Solo, the enjoyment starts to go. I think I stopped on day 9 or 10. I hadnt decided when I was going to stop, I just woke up on that morning and thought "im going to try and not smoke today".. And it was so much easier than I thought. I would not have managed without Champix. Good luck and keep strong - you will succeed. xxx

schedule 9 Oct 2013

Hi boofnz. I'm now in week 3 of Champix. One week smoke free. I felt exactly the same as you in my first week. Week 2 was more difficult with going on to 2 tablets a day. I got very nauseous and felt very, very tired. The nausea has now totally gone but the tiredness has hung around. Still working through this one. The GOOD thing is I still haven't felt like a cigarette. After 48 years of continuous smoking I feel a bit lost at times but don't start to think a cigarette will make me feel better. I am sure I still have some bad times to come but I am just taking it one day at a time. So far so good, and already I am breathing easier. Hang in there and good luck.

Thanks for the support!

Im on my second week now of Champix. I chose day 14 to quit (17th Oct). The first week I was feeling very energetic, now on my second week it's a bit harder, but working through it. Sometimes I feel very lost and confused about it all, but I know I'm doing the right thing. I haven't had any nausea yet, I feel fine apart from a few headaches and a sore throat. I can't wait to get it all over and done with and finally be a non-smoker.

I have been smoking for 17 years. So many times i have quit smoking longest was 9 months shortest was 2 weeks.

So, i decided to stop smoking lat time and final decision and started using Champix. All i can say is Champix is a miracle. I am on my 47 days smoke-free and still using it.

I guess i can consider my self ex-smoker.

When i have time, i am going to share my whole story from why i started to why i decided to quit.

That's awesome Yener!

I can now call myself a non-smoker!! I'm so proud of myself, especially since my quit day is the 17th Oct and I've managed to quit two days before. I wasn't suppose to quit yesterday, I had two smokes in the morning, my second (and last) smoke was around 10am and I just kept myself busy until I had to go to work. I had so many chances to go out for a smoke but I didn't, I just found something else to do. Once 8 hours had past I though why light one up now, I'll just keep going. So here I am, not smoking and feeling good about it and thinking about what I can spend all this extra money on lol. Thanks for all the support, It really has helped, online and off. I will keep updating on my progress.
