Day11

Hi All,
Am currently at day 11 and feeling great so far. Have gained a couple of kilos, but I know the reason for that !!! hahaha. Will lose that very quickly I hope now that I have so much more energy. I have used Champix to stop smoking, but am considering stopping taking it as i dont really think it does anything much once you have gotten thru the initial withdrawal. I also wanted to share with everyone a book that i read called Allen Carr's Easyway to stop smoking. I must admit that it will probably not be for everyone, but I did find it very useful. It is quite a repetitive book, but I think it is meant to be to get the point across. It doesn't harp on about the evils of smoking, but mostly tries to explain how we get hooked and how to get ourselfves unhooked. Anyway, give it a try, certainly cannot do any harm. For me it just seemed to clarily some issues in regards to how we get addicted (and stay addicted) to nicotine. Good Luck to everyone on this "Quit Smoking Journey'

Hi Heldaw, congratulations on reaching 11 days smokefree. Just be careful about taking yourself of your nicotine replacement therapy, as I tried to do it and the withdrawals hit me bad. Be gentle on yourself, especially at this early stage.

Hi Heldaw - well done on Day 11.. Think carefully before going off Champix. It's a common mistake to go off it too early. I stayed on it for 2 months and then gradually cut down my dosage in the last month. I would recommend you dont go off it yet. I thought Allen Carr's book was excellent and I still refer to it every now and then.. (I am 101 days smoke free). Couldn't have done it without Champix. Keep strong and well done again. xx

Hi Heldaw, I am on day 9 days of no smoking & because I forgot to take the champix 2 days ago I decided to see how I went without using it. So far I have missed neither the smokes or the champix. So I really only took champix for 16 days. Cheers

I stopped champix after 3 months and my carvings came back with a vengeance so unless they're causing problems I'd see the course through. Well done so far I think anything more than 3 days without one is an achievement :)

champix works by releasing endorphins in the brain to give you a feeling of calmness i would do the full course it is of no value to stop now why would you want to don't set yourself up to fail give yourself the best chance at stopping well stay strong.

Thanks for all the comments and support. Have decided I will keep taking the Champix as it is not giving me any side effects. I thought iw was just to help break the nicotine habit and not for ongoing support with keeping you calm. Dont want to take any chances at failing .
