The lead up to Quitting
Hi my name is kylie im 27yrs old from sydney and a mother of one beautiful little 6 yr old girl. My reasons for quitting are mainly for myself but also for my daughter as she suffers asthma and chronic croup in winter. Coming from a family who smoke and growing up around smoke has been the norm for me for 27yrs and has been a challange to try to quit. I have been wanting to quit for 3yrs with many failed attempts but now is my turn to try again. Some people say smoking is like withdrawing from herion not quite sure as i dont do drugs. I guess having this site and having support from other smokers might help me quit for good.I really hope this helps me. I have tried everything from champix to gum and combanations but i guess i didnt have the right frame of mind at the time and i just failed.
My daughter means the world to me and she is another reason for me quitting as i will also help her with her health no smoke less sickness. I dont smoke in the house but smoke does travel as anyone knowns this. I will be quitting with the support of my daughter and she has so much confidence in me . I dont want her growing up like i did thinking smoking was the normal thing to do smoking is wrond, disgusting and very unclean.
I will write another blog in a few days as my quit date is 24/6/13.
Hi Kylie, you did not fail, it is all part of the process, you learn from each attempt. There is a huge fear around quitting I know as I have felt it. It is at it's highest at the beginning , but get less and less as the days go on. Keep posting here it really helps, it is a great support and great for tips. good luck.
Hi I found staying on here has helped so much with all the support if I wasn't on this site I'm sure I'd be smoking again, it's only seven days but I know I can do it, my 3year old grandson once said why are you smoking nanny that helped me stop too, you can do it this time there's plenty of people here to help you.
