I have been reading Allen Carrs Easyway to Stop Smoking, and I plan to quit today, It is something to celebrate. I have no illusions about the recovery journey, the big monster is the self talk, the brainwashing and I have a plan to combat this self talk by reframing into a positive message from my decision to quit.

I also quit using allen carrs book. The best thing i loved about this method was the positivity and not using nicotine replacement. But i probably believe even more that everyone has a time to quit like a season and its available and a turning point in a persons life. All the best

I had a goal that didn't allow me to fail, I was put in a situation that didn't allow for me to have one. Backed myself into a corner and just had to do it. Hard extremely! Felt the illness from the dependants and had to readapt my thinking and pattern of behaviour.

Glad I did as I use to give myself too many chances, then I didn't have a choice.

Hi I'm on my second attempt to quit cold turkey, positive thinking helps a lot. Look forward to your posts. SHIRLEY I found if I stayed up late the night before I quit then slept in late when I woke up I was more hungry than wanting a smoke.

Hi Jatchat, Congrats on your decision to quit smoking. The fact that you have made that decision and are determined is the better part of the goal. The road can be rocky for a while, but stay strong and focused and You'll put that filthy old smoking habit behind you where it belongs. Day by day, hour by hour, keep your guard up and of course you;ll do well..Good luck and keep posting xx

hi - thank you for mentioning Allen Carr's book.

I had been struggling for 3 weeks with patches then saw your post and purchased the book - what a difference - I used the patch instead of a cigarette and the end and named my nicotine craving "nigel"(?) so now when I have a craving or am agitated I simply tell nigel to go away - working wonders and today I stood and talked to a friend while she chained smoked and did not have the slightest need for one. thank you again
