Needing some advice
So I'll be 24 this year and I started smoking when I was 16.
I think every person likes the idea of being able to quit, but thinking about the anxiety in the back of your head can really put you off.
I have been on every possible NRT (patches, inhalers, gum) even prescription meds (champix), and all has been a failure (says the nasty thoughts in my head). Not to mention that I get really bad insomnia from champix and a terrible rash from the patches - I must be allergic to the adhesive they use! Which results in over dramatised anxiety and depression.
I am starting to get really desperate about this matter! I don't know what to do, my doctor is impossible (by which I mean, useless) and I feel like I have hit a critical time in my life where I'm backed into a corner and this nasty addiction is giving me a right bashing!
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

I used patches too and got super red and itchy, yanno what I did? Sucked it up! Its a small price to pay. It goes away after a little while. I figure a little itch is nothing compared to what I was doing to my lungs. I ended up only being on the patches for two weeks (stage one the first, stage two the second) they made me feel ill and by that stage I was in too far to go back to smoking. Im now on day 36 smoke free. Get your determined to quit attitude and run with it! Dont let anything stop you! We are all doing it, you CAN too :D Quitting is the new cool =P

hi i know what you are feeling but you can do it trust me i went cold turkey day by day you will suceed , the first 3 weeks are the hardest , i have been of them for 14 months now saving a lot of money and feeling much better. just keep yourself busy and think of other things other than smoking if you think about smoking to much thats when it makes it hard. Dont get me wrong its the hardest thing i have done but i have done it after 30 years of smoking 25 a day. And dont try and cut down just stop cutting down does,nt work good luck.

I have started the Quit4good cysteine strips you put on your tongue today so wish me luck. I've used 6 strips today and from 8.00am this morning till 9.00pm (now) I have had only three cigarettes and the last one was terrible so I had only half. I'm wondering if its all in my head but these strips seem to be working already as I haven't had any cravings at all. I simply smoked because of habit today. I paid $249 and it came in the mail. I will keep you all posted on how I go with them. Heard it being advertised on 3AW so thought I would give it a go. I'll post again tomorrow. Apparently you should have stopped completely by day 7...! By the way I'm 51 and I too have also smoked from the age of 13.

Nelamiah - how are you going on Quit4good now? 16 days since this post and curious to see if the strips continue to work. Am also already looking around because I am on Champix day 7 and am scared it's not going to work. Did it really stay so easy? And - are you still smoke-free?
