Slipped Again

schedule 19 Sep 2012

This is my fourth attempt to quit I was cigarette free for 6 weeks, then I decided it was time to enjoy wine again, didn't take long for the will power to go out the window.  first it was just a couple with a glass of wine then I would be ok for a few days, then another wine and so on.  I then weakened without an alcohol temptation and have smoked for 2 days running.  I dont want to be a smoker so am starting again. There will be no alcohol and I will have to keep working on my will power and ignore the voice in my head that says "one wont hurt" - YES IT WILL

schedule 19 Sep 2012

Slipping and relapse are alright as long as we have the stamina to keep trying....one day it might get too hard to try.

Have you tried having a wine when you had no access to cigarettes.

That was the only way I could give up, have no cigs in the house - while they were around I was kidding myself.

It is now over 8 months since I had a smoke and I still enjoy my wine

Yes did try that, my daughter smokes so I got one from her, when she wasn't home i walked down the street and bought some, the beginning of the end. Just have to work on the willpower and ignore the wine for a while! Today is a new day and the journey starts again!

Hi Mischa,

Just keep going, You'll eventually get there and get sick of giving up.And stay smokefree.

I gave up for 6 months earlier this year, took it back up and has taken me months to finally get back on track.I am smokefree for 4 days and am really sick and tired of " giving up" then caving in.

Good luck and yeap you can do this.
