I decided after thinking about it for a long time, it was time for me to quick smoking, i had my last cigarette last wednesday night at around 8.30pm,  i am using quit x gum, i had 3 pieces the first day, and only 1-2 pieces a day since then, and just chewing normal chewing gum inbetween, tick tacks etc and trying to drink lots of water.   i was a heavy smoker 25-30 a day most days.    It is hard, think about it all the time.   But i dont want to go through this again, which is why i think i have stuck with it so far.

7 days after quitting a 40 year pack a day habit, the worst of the cravings are over but I still think about smoking often. Sometimes I feel sad, like I have lost a good friend, who kept me loyal company for most of my life. Do others feel this? Do these feelings subside? How do I resist the urge to renew that old friendship by "just having one or two?"

ok so here i am at day 14, no cigarettes, been in bed sick for the last 4 days with a chest infection, has anyone else suffered sickness after giving up. It is the worst sickness i can ever remember.

Thanks also for your encouraging words.
