Why quit

I have been smoking since I was 12. I am 34 now. My mother and grandmother chain-smoked in front of me and I used to pick up their Butts and light them at a very young age.
I like smoking. It gives me an excuse to go outside and be alone.
But it is time to quit again. The first time I quit I lasted a year. Then a stressful situation occurred and I was back at it.
The cost doesn't really bother me and I am immune to the pictures and adds of people suffering. Occasionally I see an old lady smoking and coughing up her lungs and think "that's gonna be me".
So maybe it won't be me.
I am a terrible fidget, I need to be doing something with my hands. I get anxiety, I bite my nails, scratch my head, and smoking relaxes me.
There is no question that I need to replace the physical habit. I don't think the nicotine is my problem, it is the action. What can I do with my hands?
Wish me , cold turkey today.

Good luck Puff! I know what you mean about the physical habit, didn't know what to do with my hands for the first 2 weeks so I walked around with a pen and when a craving came I used it like a smoke, gotta say it help heaps, though I must of look strange!!

I also really enjoyed smoking & the same as the you, the time i took to be alone, i would usually sit & read a book in the back room. Today is my 22nd smoke free day - I stopped cold turkey & so far have only craved a smoke a few times, good luck & always remember that you can do it xxx
