here I go again

Well I find myself in the same spot as last year and every other year.... quiting smoking. Always thinking about ways to quit or ways to reduce smoking .. Ill just smoke at night one or two just like my sister, Ill just have one when I REALLY feel like one, dont take any to work. I know that all these only last a little while and before I know it Im back to where am. SO I am back on the Champix which really worked last time and I relaps after I thought I was totally smoke free for 4months. I am on quit day 7 and my quite day is the 31 May National quit day. Im keen but worried about what will I do??? Feeling a bit down about what I so call my friend the time I have to think and relax....smoke. WHAT will I do??? I have cut down to 3 a day from about 12 smokes a day. I just want to be able to breath ok and be able to walk without puffing. I will also be able to look at those smoking ads and think AGAIN thank god I dont have to worry about that. I have learn't alot from quiting before and hoping that this time I will be free.... will keep u updated!! thanks for listening!

Thinking of you happygail. If I had the answer? I'd be a millionaire. Oh and yes we are all listening and we are learning. My Doctor told me the other day that I just need to STOP!!!!!I laughed at him, but he looked me in the eye and said enough is enough! Scary when it comes from someone you respect.................

Thanks Pauly!!Yes it is all scary and I just think it will never happen to me!! How silly is that??? Hope you are going to give the quit thing a go?
Hi, Gail, I hate smoking....I just needed to do it because of the nicotine....last week my doctor told me I might have lung cancer which can lead to death...why don't you imagine if that terrible day dawned when the doctor said you have lung cancer....and pay yourself forward....there's no going back if you have a fatal illness....just concentrate and think about your (potential) children...and the life you love....my best advice....Catherine

Hi Gail,
Pauly and invertedsupernova are totally spot on. It is not a if smoking will either kill you or drastically shorten your life. I'm 67 started regularly smoking at 12 (that's the age my generation started to smoke) I saw my grandfather as a skeleton die of lung cancer, my father with emphysema, mates with other cancer and bronchial conditions - but I thought I would be exempt, not so, at least the medications and pain relief is a little better nowadays but the outcome is still the same. Don't plan to quit - just QUIT and maybe you will be lucky enough to send the grim reaper away and avoid the inevitable telling your loved ones that you won't be there for all the special times in their future.
