Hello everyone.  I have been reading all of your posts on this site over the last few weeks, and I am in awe of the help, support and inspiration offered by complete strangers to one another.  This is my second attempt at quitting, and I am determined to achieve my goal this time and be rid of those dreadful cigarettes.  I am 41 years old and have a beautiful 6 year old daughter.  I look into her eyes and thats when I know I simply must must kick the habit once and for all.  I have previously given up for 2 weeks, but then at a moment of weakness and stress, I relented to those little demons in my head.  That was only two weeks ago, but have started again today on my quit journey, with the help of some gum.  I read the comments on this site regularly, and wanted to say thank you all for inspiring me.

Fabulous you're having another go Jules41. Remember that you're not giving up anything. You're actually gaining a life. You won't be beholden to those demons anymore. Everytime you feel like a smoke try saying to yourself "Yippee I'm a non-smoker" and SMILE!!!! Power of positive thought. We're here for you Jules41. Go for it...

Well done Jules. I'm 42 and smoked since I was 17. Last time I tried giving up was 14 yrs ago, and at that time, the little demon in the head got me. This time I recognise that demon. I know it lies and it has no respect or care for me or my family. I detest it and will never again listen to it. When it whispers in your ear again you'll recognise it too. It WILL be there Jules - just be ready for it this time. Hate it with all your heart. It doesn't care about you or your daughter. You owe it nothing. We're all here for you. We might be strangers but we are united in this struggle and understand each other's experience. This is one of the most difficult things any of us will ever do.

Good on you, Jules41,

We are all walking this road with you, Just stay focused and dont give in to the cravings and you'll nail it. It's a huge mind game, at times you think you've gone mad but you'll come through it.

You stay strong and good luck xoxo

And MickeyJ I just love your statement that we are all strangers and we unite in this struggle- well said ! such encouraging words. xoxox
