It's about time!

I’m 29 years old and have been smoking for 10 years. I first thought about quitting three years ago, but couldn’t commit to it completely so I decided to reduce the amount of cigarettes and milligrams. On average I smoke 6 – 8, 1milligram cigarettes a day. During the weekend I decided that it was time to stop. I walked into a chemist and asked for help. After telling the pharmacist that I smoke eight 1 milligram cigarettes a day, she looked at me and said “why bother, you barely smoke at all”. What happened to “every cigarette is doing you harm”? Today is my first cigarette free day.

Hi Misty, the mental addiction has been the biggest challenge!! It's also been interesting that I have been finding it difficult telling people that I quit. Smoking has been for so long something I did that I too thought it was part of my identity. I've found that Monday - Friday I can generally get by cigarette free, the hurdles have been the weekends.

Thanks for all the support everyone!
