Just did it!
I remember reading about quitting smoking and effective methods of quitting, including setting a quit date two weeks in advance. Well, I decided to set my quit date for Valentine's Day 2011. Monday, February 7, I cut the strength of my cigarettes from 8mg down to 1mg. Tuesday February 8, I smoked my last cigarette. I figured, if I can handle a day on 1s after smoking 8s for so long, then I was ready to stop completely (that and I could no longer handle the smell of cigarette smoke in my hair!) today Wednesday, February 9, I did not touch a cigarette at all. I was feeling lethargic this morning on my way to work, so when I arrived, I bought myself the weakest nicotine replacement lozenges we sold at my store, and they were enough to give me the little hit I needed without filling my lungs with smoke. At lunch time, instead of smoking, I listened to music, ate a healthy meal, sucked a lozenge and read a magazine. On the way home, instead of smoking, I sucked a lozenge.
So day 1, no smoke, 3 lozenges so far (but I think there will be one or two more before bed). Hey, at least I have reduced the number of chemicals running through my body!
