Referring clients to Quitline

Quitline can be a useful resource to direct your client or patient to if they have tried to quit on their own without success. Quitline can also be helpful if your client is thinking about quitting but needs support to motivate them to quit and stay on track.

Quitline can also assist carers and family members, along with health professionals working with people who smoke or vape. Managed by the Cancer Institute NSW, Quitline is a free, confidential counselling and support service to help people prepare for, start and maintain their quit journey.

What Quitline does

Quitline can help motivate your client or patient to consider quitting and make a successful quit attempt by providing: 

  • Information and advice about proven quitting methods 
  • Telephone counselling to support people through the quit process, available seven days a week, from 7am to 10.30pm 
  • Quit Kits, containing helpful information for people who want to stop smoking. These kits are available in different languages
