Trying to quit when living with a smoker

I can not praise nicotine chewing gum enough.  It made me feel sick in the beginning until I found out  that you only chewed for a few seconds when you felt a craving and then tucked the gum under your tongue.  I was a heavy smoker and I live with a smoker. I found that chewing stopped the cravings and gave me something to do.  When I was stressed instead of reaching for the cigarettes I popped in a piece of gum and it worked. I have now been a non-smoker for 7 years and my other half still smokes.

I can empathise with that, my wife still smokes, so do most of my friends, doesn't really bother me, they just stink and don't interest me (the ciggies not the people!!!)

No - Used the gum for 12 months and gradually the need to use it stopped. The Doctor told me that I was probably addicted to the chewing gum for this time but it was better than smoking.
