Taken for granted

Posted in Quit experiences 18 Oct 2016

Hi all , moving towards the century (100days) by end of the week. Amazing , how much we take for granted. Saw specialist for 3 mths review on lung test after quitting smoking. Was told thank God that i had improved in features of taking air in and expelling in a given amount. There were technical terms for this but i am not a doctor. Point i am trying to make is that once we feel better our thoughts are "oh well maybe i can have one ....won't hurt" like when we were teenagers and thought we were bullet proof. But, ok without smoking i do feel better, no weazing, walk up hill better and even moustache went white. Alright i am 68 yrs old and smoked for 50 yrs and have some copd.... (what smoker has'nt?) but specialist told me it is NEVER too late to live your life better. So, if you start to feel better after quitting cessation do not put thoughts in your mind that just one will not hurt because it will. Bye for now.

Johnnie, I really needed this message today. Last night, going into my 57th day, I had a dream that I smoked. Not that I smoked one, but that I smoked almost a whole pack and I didn't feel that bad about it. I have been under an intense amount of stress and have thought that smoking would help it. I guess I thought about it so much that it showed up in my subconscious dreams. I have a chest ct scan on Friday for pre-op. I have some scarring from previous bouts with bronchitis, but we're hoping that's all that it is on the CT.

Hi Wendy........i hope you will be ok. Yes the message i tried to bring accross was that when one feels good and strong he or she may think about having "just" one. But, it will end up a whole packet. That unfortunately is how it is......when our brain senses something nice it then wants more and take care ...Cheers.
