My one hint that worked so far

I tell myself that I have never been a smoker, never had a smoke and never relied on it to get over stress. It's only peer pressure or drunkenness I take a puff or two, and they have only given me bad breath and chest pain.

I still have packs of smokes around the house, next to the bed and in the drinks holder in the car, but the lie works every time in the 8 days of cold turkey so far.

    Nice work, How amazing is our brain! We can convince ourselves of so much but it also works either way. What we can justify about smoking stuns me.
    Keep up the great work and keep on the right track, its not easy but its worth it.

    That's fantastic, I also quit cold turkey but I had to hide all cig packets from view (my partner still smoked while I was quitting). Even though I knew they were there and just under a wallet or a magazine, I just didn't want to see them. We're all stronger than we realise, keep going you're doing brilliantly.

    Hi Sam. It was Margaret Thatcher who tried to keep me on the nicotine trail. How easy was it to say no to her?.. No problem. I still have the original 4 1/2 packets left "unsmoked" after 455 days... Just means you don't have to panic when supplies are gone... I just hung on to my pigheaded willpower to reverse the stupid effort made decades ago when I learned to smoke... Harder to quit, isn't it??? Hang in there. You seem determined.

    Thank you for the support and sharing your stories, champions you guys are.

    I have good news and bad news.

    Bad news is I popped the seal and had 4 sticks. Something happened and I needed to hide in a dark place.

    Good news is if the same situation happened 10 days ago, it would be 30 sticks easy. The next day, I had a smoke in my lips, I took it out, crushed it in my hands and thrown it out. And that 4 I had, it tasted awful, it still had a calming psychological effect but it tasted like garbage.

    Also, a night of drinking with friends that called for 20 sticks, I had ZERO! No patches no gum, I just said no when I was offered on multiple occasions.

    A minor set back but things are looking good.
