Painful experiences

Posted in Quit experiences 16 May 2016

I want to post here and thank everyone who has helped me reach day 74 without a cigarette. I am going through a real tough emotional time now and I have a great excuse to try and cure the pain by smoking but nope, no matter how bad this pain is (feeling ripped apart inside) I want to live through it and come out the other end smoke free. Smoking is going to make this pain worse - thats for sure. At least with this pain and no cigs I will be able to breathe, breathe , breathe.. thank God for being able to breathe fresh air.

I think the best time to quit is when your under heaps of stress.and pain. Sounds like you have heartbreak!! Sorry to hear that... Think about the times you've put off smoking because you were too stressed or some excuse, any excuse to say i NEED a smoke , im so stressed.. Then after the smoke, you feel good for exactly 5 drags.. Yes 5 drags and the rest was just because the smoke says "smoke me" !
Your doing a great job quitting in the middle of the stuff your going through! your Battle will result in Victory!
    Sending love your way💚

Emotional pain/hardship can be the hardest I feel like we are kindred spirits in a way took up due to emotional pain in December last year despite the fact I let my daughter down by smoking again. This has provided my with resolve to beat it once and for all. We can get through it as George once said "All Things Must Past" wether they be emotional pain or cravings. We need all aspects of life that's what makes us human. Thoughts are with you through this struggle we can get through and overcome.

Apart from just coming here to talk about our smoking addiction, I'm touched that many of you know about emotional pain. I think many of you can easily guess or have a good idea what causes emotional pain and I don't have to go into details. I've been struggling with cigarettes for many years allowing in the pain of smoking but just like the smoking I've allowed other things to come in that cause pain as well. If we smokers can harm ourselves in one way, surely we will discover we've been harming ourselves in other ways too. Surely this blog is not just about smoking cigarettes but for some a self discovery too. Training ourselves to fight with the ability to reject something harmful can be useful not just to give up smoking but for other things too. I feel connected to many of you and wish you all the best that I would want for myself, not just because you quit smoking but for other things in your lives too.

As IC says "Take care hey"

I have enjoyed reading your posts - it's like a re-run of my experience (and I'm only a few months ahead of you). I think we sometimes forget why we started this challenging journey and therefore, when the going gets tough, the initial motivation doesn't seem as clear. The best motivation right now, when things are crumbling around you, is : 'Why would I ever want to go through this again?' and 'Smoking won't make it feel better'.
Please treat yourself to something special, just as an acknowledgment that you are going through a rotten time without your usual crutch. Congratulations on what you have achieved and all strength to you as you face the demons along the way.
