Day One..............Second Attempt!!

I stumbled across this group totally by accident and I'm hoping that it's okay to be part of it as I don't live in Australia I live in Ireland? Today is my first day off the cigs. I gave up the cigs successfully in 2014 for five months and hit a crisis and folded unfortunately!! One of my biggest regrets!! However back then I wasn't part of any group and Whilst I keep myself to myself I think support within a group with people who know how you are feeling is priceless!! You guys seem to understand and advise each other very very well!! I am a 49 year old grandmother and have my almost ten year old grandson living with me (just him and me). I have smoked since I was 15 years old and throughout the last decade they have went from a 20 packet to 40 a day. So today is the first day of what will hopefully be my life as a non smoker!!

I am 54 and have 3 grandchildren but I am fit and feel young.
Although I have felt breathless lately and it's scaring me. How has today been are you using anything? I prefer cold turkey as I like to be in control. Is there a way we can stay logged in our phones, an app?

Hi Siobhain-Marie, today is my first day of my second attempt to quit also. I quit in January for 3 months but then took it back up. I'm using patches and meditation as well as this support group. Your grandson will benefit greatly from your strength gained from quitting. My daughter is a major reason for my wanting to quit as well as money and my health.

Wishing you the best of luck xx

    Hi Sophiiieee
Thank you for your encouragement hunni 😊 Very much appreciated 😁 It's great to know of others on the same journey and knowing I'm not alone 😊 Good Luck to you too xx

Hi, today is day 337 smoke free. I truly feel for anyone embarking on the quit journey. The most torrid time was the first hour of day 1. Then the 2nd hour and so on. The rest is history because I learnt to live in my skin as a non smoker. I still have to keep trying and saying no to that very expensive craving. Gets easier. Just never as hard as the first few hours...

Totally agree Lia 😊 First couple of days are the worst!! Well done on your achievement 👌 Wow you're almost at one year!! You must be so proud of yourself 😊 Glad you said it gets easier Thank you And again Well Done!! xx

I agree I need to come here daily and read everything and write something share how I am feeling give someone some encouragement and remember I am a nicotine addict and that will never change !

one puff and I am gone again.

like I told my mate who is at 14 days or there about's its probably going to get worse before it gets better, this might sound negative but I think its the truth and this isn't easy, but it sure as hell is worth it !!

so don't think for 1 second having a ciggy is going to make life better as it 100% wont and then we have to deal with the emotions of failing and the shame that addiction brings and the never ending circle and that's what quitting is braking that circle of addiction or if you like shame.
