Short lived determination

Well that was a really short lived turning corner if ever there was one. Now with just under an hour to get ready I'm feeling anxious and panicked. I don't know what happened. I think it was because my son said, mum, can we go early so we can play. That means I'd have to buy a drink & socialise without sitting at the table with food in front of me so won't know what to do with myself....hhhmmmmm - just want to stay home. I don't think I'll ever be able to feel human while I'm out without the darn things. Anyway, I definately won't be smoking but I shall go and just try my best & let you know how I go.

Hi bronte.. The first time I went out I bought a packet of Minnie's and ate the lot that night. I just drank sodas as I didn't trust myself not to smoke I'd I had alcohol. This worked for me. How proud of yourself will you be if you don't smoke. Thinking of you. Good luck.

Totally get that😞 hope it went well for you. Thanks for your honesty,it helps everyone else from thinking I'm not the only one who thinks this is difficult! I stopped dring over 5 years ago and giving up ciggies is WAY harder.Especially the social thing,I'm living in Ireland where not drinking is viewed with total suspicion lol Now I decided to not smoke that should have me sent away!! Love your sense of humour x

Safe - thanks guys - well that wasn't so bad, I'm now safe at home - no harm done. I had a good night, helped that I was with the "right" crowd. On occasion I felt like fleeing to the smokers side where I knew the "other" crowd but I just had to ignore them and continue being brave with the good people. Which...was fine, funnily enough I want one most now that I am home. It's one of those funny things, I got through it so it's that sense of relief ahhhh now I can sit down and relax and have a smoke after that. huhhh what the. Oh well, I don't have any so I'm going to bed and never going out again!!
