Psychological Ploys...

Posted in Staying quit 02 Dec 2013

Hi Michelle, in 2 weeks time I will be nine months smoke free - after 40+ years of 20 or more per day.  I can't say I don't miss the smokes but that's just because its a habit, I don't crave them either and rarely think about smoking.

Except, I'm scheduled for surgery in ten days for bowel cancer and have been stunned by the number of times the thought that a cigarette would be good has raised its head.  Its not a craving, and I'm not going to the shop, but its just the fact that the thought enters my mind.  Its scary, and just shows how an addiction can linger in our system and rear its ugly head when we are vulnerable.

So, I won't be giving in, but its just a heads up, no matter how well you think you are doing, the devil is lurking, so stay strong and laugh in his face.

Cheers everyone - and savour your first smoke free Chrissie!
