Hi All My quick pop-in....picked up my 3rd months Champix last night - oh yes Im doing the full 3 months, rather put up another 30days with the side effects than smoking again. I still have "flashes" of craving but it futher apart and fewer, it does become easier :-) Instead of focussing on the negative side [side effects etc] I rather focus on the positive.. I dont cough, I dont smell of sigarettes and I do save time!! It takes +- 7min to smoke a cigarette, times that with the quantity you smoke per day/ week/ month/ year and you will be surprised! I am hanging on, I will not smoke!! Eat cheese, carrots, nuts loads of water and rather take a 7min brisk walk [helps keeping the extra weight off] than go for a smoke. My advice: RIDE THE WAVE IT DOES PASS!!!! IT DOES GET EASIER!!!!! HANG IN THERE ITS ALL WORTH IT!!!!!

Top effort By Mix! I agree with your thoughts of following through with completing the three month course. Your idea about focusing on the positives is awesome.

    KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!

Thanx Little Bec - I will extend it if I feel I need to. Ive done extensive research on Champix and you can take it up to 6 months, Ive smoked for +-30yrs so I cant expect to quit is going to be easy BUT its most definitely worth it!
Good luck to you too and hang in there!! :-)

My thought exactly, I am day 14 today (little hooray)and I intend to do at least sixteen weeks of champix. Despite the side effects of champix (which as mix stated are far less severe than the side effects of smoking) this is the easiest and best (and final) quit attempt so far. I think about one when I get home from work or uni, but that is about it and I am getting over that.

I finish my three months. Been great and have decided to continue another three months. I think it's worth it - never do I want to smoke again. It's an amazing medication and I'm not going to be arrogant about it, if six months is better than three then I'm sticking to it!

At AP - Well done!! You just keep on doing what you are doing and anything else that makes it easier to not smoke! Good luck and keep it up :-)

At Jack - WELL DONE!!! so happy to hear that you've decided to do another 3 months! I'm right on your heels, I am adamant to kick the habit which is just as bad as the addiction.
Good Luck Jack - keep us posted :-)

Thanks Mix :)I have not been any more determined about anything in my life! My GP advised me that my chances of quitting increases every time that I extend the course. But hey, by the end of 3 months I am hoping that I can go on will power alone, if not, all good - just as long as I am not smoking :)
