Just thought I'd let you know that after 40yrs smoking 20+/day, and after numerous failed attempts to quit, I am one week smoke-free! Hooray...I know its still early days but I am feeling really positive despite the cravings coming upon me during the day. Its interesting, when I get a craving I imagine taking a cigarette and lighting it and the image does not appeal to me at all. Good! I'm using the mantra "don't need one, don't want one", and taking good note of the pluses - fingers no longer smell, sense of smell is stronger, the house smells fresh and airy, etc. I'm also sitting in front of the TV less and doing more.
Having go this far I'm really determined - I should be eight days free but I slipped on day 2 and had to start again. I was so disappointed in myself, I'm not going to let it happen again.
So here's wishing everyone well in battling the demon - and Happy, cig-free Easter to you all.
