Day 1! Smoke free life.

Today is my first day smoke free. I'm taking champix and on day 16, I woke up and didn't feel like smoking so I haven't. Feeling overly hungry though! Does anyone have any healthy snack ideas??

    try: sipping water slowly, chopping up a selection of vegetables or fruit (e.g. carrot or celery sticks), chew on sugar free gum or mints, and breath through a pen cylinder or chew on a toothpick. I hope that may help

    Hey Jb1986 - you are doing exactly the same as me. I was day 16 on Champix as well when I had my first smoke-free day. Today is my day 11, and still clean. I have never been a water drinker but found that that helped me in the first few days. Also luckily it is summer here so have been having fresh fruit. Peaches, pineapples, mangoes. Just to that when I do reach for food it isn't all damaging. The crazy 'hunger' for me only lasted the first 5 odd days. Seems to have levelled out now. But still taking it one day at a time. At least I have progressed to one day at a time and not one minute and one hour at a time, which is where I was. Good Luck!! Just get over your first 3 days and you will be on your way.

    Thanks leighdo13, makes me feel better that someone else has taken till day 16 on champix, water has been my best friend today along with my chewing gum :) I hope this eating curves soon I want to quit smoking not put on weight lol... But like you said one day at a time... I wish you luck on your journey.

    Yeah I was starting to get really worried by then that it wasn't going to work for me, because everybody else seemed to give up way before then, like between day 7 and 10 and there I was. But I think we each have to choose our time, when we are mentally ready. I've just always been a late developer :)

    Lol, same here I planned to quit on day 10 but it just didn't happen that way.. I was so upset with myself but I'd cut down from 30 a day to 4 a day until today :) very proud of myself!

    just be careful with the fruit..too much sugar can put on weight..i put on 1kg in 3 days all down to me snacking on too many grapes cause I wasn't smoking.

    try putting a couple of slices of lime/lemon into a tall glass of water or soda water to sip on, tastes better than plain, cut up cucumbers, celery, radishes and carrots, when things get really tough, get some lovely dip or tahini to dip them into, when hungry go for a walk or do some deep breathing or exercise, it all helps
