Hi all! I am wanting to join and write to the group to make me accountable this is my first time after numerous attempts. After smoking nearly 20 years did give up for 4 years to go through IVF which was successful thinking I would never smoke again. After a car accident have struggled ever since now that I’m 47 need to do this for me and my family. Not getting any younger😂 lost both parents to lung cancer😞 so on day 4 on patches and find that reading other people’s story and their strength helps😊 in patches and gum good luck everyone

Hello Symonds and WELCOME! You certainly joined the right group! This community offers strength, education and inspiration. Congratulations on Day #4!! With or without patches, it is a step in the right direction.

Yes, you most importantly need to do this for YOU! No one else can control YOU except for YOU and don't let the nicotine take over. Don't let it control YOU. That is your job to control yourself not the nicotine's job!!

You gave up once for 4 years so you must know the benefits of quitting. You must know how to get through the beginning days. It is well worth it Symonds and I think you know it. Posting for the first time did it for me too!

I thought that once I posted, I am in it for the "long haul", my final quit, and you know what? It worked! It will work for you too! Read, read, read on a daily basis and post often. We are all in this together with the same goal. All of us want to see each other succeed.

You have a BIG crowd of people cheering you on! You can do this! Others have! Keep up the positive attitude and don't quit on quitting! One day at a time. The days will add up, you will feel better and better, stronger and stronger and YOU will finally be in control of your life!! Best wishes.... Have a great smokeless day!!!

Hi Symonds. I also used patches when I quit and am now 1008 days quit. I only used them for a month to get me through those first days. After 2 weeks I cut them in half. I found that with the patches I had no cravings, so I had to work on the habit. With determination it was a lot easier than I expected. You can do it mate. Be strong and think of all of the positives. You can beat those little sticks of nastiness. I believe in you 😊

I know that reading success stories gives one some belief that they too can quit this addiction. Learning, reading, and practicing NOPE will help you to stay on course. You have quit before, so this should be easier for you , however learn the mindset this time around and make it permanent. When we no longer WANT to smoke, we will not feel that we are missing out on anything. Instead look forward to the future and the freedom you can achieve.
