I very much want to quit but I’ve become trapped in a never ending cycle of stopping for a day and then starting again. I feel physically sick from smoking but I feel mentally obsessed and unable to let it go. I’ve got nicotine replacement inhaler which I’ve never used because I just want the cigarette! I haven’t smoked today. What can I do?

Hi the Allan Carr book, Easyway to stop smoking. It is very helpful in getting you to think about smoking in a different way. Helps to get your mindset in the right place. You need to get to a point of wanting to quit...more than you want to smoke. When you have a smoke, really concentrate on that smoke and ask yourself...what is it doing for me...what is enjoyable about having it. You will be amazed at the answers. You can do this as many have on this site. Anyone can quit if they really want to. Take it one day at a time. If you haven’t smoked today...that is a great start...keep going

Welcome Walkfree. Robn gave excellent advise. I can only add,... when you feel a craving and want a cigarette wait one hour and see how you feel after that one hour. Most likely you will have come to your senses and reset your mindset so that when the hour is up, you have no desire. The hours will add up to days. It does get better, believe me. One hour at a time, one day at a time. Hang out here on this site and read, read, read. You will get some inspiration as you will see, we have all had a day #1, a week #1. Think positive,.. we can do it and so can you!

perhaps you should smoke while you read Allen Carr....lose the fear and understand WHY you smoke. Desire the freedom more than the smokes. The right mindset really is the key!

    Hi Walkfree,
I've been Nicotene free since June. As you probably know it is always hard in the beginning. But having you join in this website is already a good start. My methods may not work for you. So I suggest find your own method. Have a good reflection why you smoke? You can do it.. when you find yourself giving in to the cravings, just say "I am better than this". Be gentle to yourself, take baby steps. Do it for no one else but for you. xx

Hi I am 55 smoked 🚬 since I was 11 tried everything now I am five days smoke free .. Cold Turkey best thing up to now I've ever done. So Nicodemon or nicodevil I call nicotine is one horrible addiction it's so powerful and manipulates you. No one has power over me one manipulates me so why does Nicodevil think it can because I did let you be powerful but no more.. go to h.e.l.l. because that's where you belong. That's how I am getting through this it works for me so far so good. I admire anyone with or without help getting away from this evil addiction that pretends to be your friend when it stinks it will kill you it costs money and really messes with your head and emotions..if we had a friend like that would they still be our friends.. not likely...
