Experience of 2yrs 11 month of being non smoker

Dear Friends ,
Today I am returning back to this forum after quite a while. Always thought I would come back and pen down my thoughts but finally its happening today !!
So , next month i am completed my 3rd Anniversary of being non smoker. This has been an emotional journey for me because smoke was an integral part of my life. I shared my joy, hope, stress, happiness, sorrow, loneliness as well as friends with a ciggrette and it never disappointed me. you might be wondering what i am trying to tell here !! to quit or to continue enjoying smoke ?
Well, I trust, everyone of us has used smoke for one or the other reason and gradually it became habit.
I have left smoke and now , there are times of loneliness, sorrow, when I crave it for long and wish I smoke one but my friends, NOPE is the key . I have learnt from others experiences that people who have quitted for as long as even 10 years became addicted because they considered 1 smoke as a small exception which they can handle. Soon they were back 10 years and started smoking again !!!
Dear, NOPE- No one puff ever is the mantra for you and whatever is the situation in life, please dont find pleasure in smoke because it thrills but kills.
See you again in sometime !!
Stay quit !!

Wow Dontsmoke look at your success, congratulations and very well deserved. NOPE is correct and you can never get complacent. I am embarrassed to admit i once quit for 7 yrs and was foolish to think i could handle 1 smoke, it was a path that led me right back to addiction. I refuse to accept this though, to stay with the addiction, as i know just how good it is to be free!!

Dear Dontsmoke, 3 years is an awfully long time. Congratulations. Your wisdom is valuable and your advise of NOPE is certainly the way to go. So many (including myself) have thought OP (One Puff) but as the story tells, it ends the quit and starts the addiction all over again. I too thought smoking was my "everything" and I wonder if I can handle things as nicely as you are doing years down the line. I will keep NOPE in my mind,.. always.

Simply remembering that smoking never did anything for us in the first place should help keep the need to dare Mr. Nicotine in a stressful time. He will have won and you will feel absolutely horrible for letting smoking back in your life.
Don't Smoke is a wonderful name to live up to. Don't Smoke because it kills not chills. Don't Smoke because you don't need to, you are just fine in your own skin without nicotine controlling you.
Congratulations on your success . Don't Smoke. NOPE.

Welcome back DontSmoke, Congratulations for sure on 3years smoke free. I am not that far behind you now. This forum has helped me through some tough times, and even now, I still practice NOPE (not one puff ever). Why! because even after this long, I have been tempted before. I do not want to go back to square one ever. Well done and come back again for us all.
