Posted in Getting started 25 May 2021

I quit about 11 years ago and started back about 2 years ago. It was dum i no but here i am. I dont want to smoke at all. I have been trying to quit almost as long as i have been smoking again. It is harder this time. When i quit the first time i was just getting together with my boyfriend and he did not smoke. He was ok with me smoke so no i did not do it for him. I did it for me just being around someone who did not smoke i think made it easer . We where all the time doing things and busy and i really think it helped me a lot. Now we are married and and yes happy. But i cant seem to get him to want to do anything. So i bored and it dont help me at all.

Welcome Kincy, I have been where you are now, lapsed after 5 years. This time yes I learnt a whole lot more, and developed some friendships on this website and a whole lot more off the website. The best advice I can give to you and to any others who have lapsed is to get a Mantra that fits you, Say it out loud, say it quietly, write it down every day. Mine is NOPE (not one puff ever) this worked for me and could work for you. Stay close read and join in anytime, this also worked for me.

You need to understand the drug Nicotine which keeps everyone hooked, you are not the failure. Most importantly you need to have real control for whatever reason. Put down your top reason and keep this close to you every day, this may change but its another beginning. If I can do this you can do this. NOPE (not one puff ever)

I think a forum such as this might be of help to you. You have been happy as a non-smoker and I am sure you can be again. Realizing that smoking does not do anything for you, and is not very exciting , so does not really relieve boredom. It is just demanding to be fed. You can take back control. Find your reasons to quit again and say enough.
