Hi all

This week I passed the 4 year mark and I'm so incredibly grateful everyday for the freedom I now enjoy from cigarettes, that once ruled nearly every aspect of my life.

This forum and Champix were my aids to succeed after many many failed attempts.

It was my calender anniversary of quitting reminder on my phone that popped up and prompted me to celebrate.... that's how nothing smoking is in my thoughts these days.

For all of you still in the difficult quitting phase, there truly is light at the end of the tunnel for your determination...just keep going and if you stumble and fall, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and try again. Believe me ...I was a 30 sometimes 40 a day tragic and never thought I'd ever be free of the shackles!

Good luck to you all and thanks to all those of you still frequenting iCanQuit who helped me along my several attempts back in the day.

I think It is so awesome of long time quitters to pop in show that quitting smoking is achievable and sustainable. While I feel it is imperative to embrace your choice to live as a non-smoker, I also feel it is important and helpful to stay in contact with this forum and the link to your past. A reminder of just how good life is without smoking that gave us nothing. The pride and confidence we demonstrated to ourselves, that we can do what we set our minds to. After all quitting smoking is a battle won in the mind.
Congratulations Steve01 for a wonderful story to share.

Hi mate.. when I first found this web site, I started to read some actual stories, lots of struggling were there so I choosen sucessfull stories and there I found your post about 1.000 days celebration..
I was thinking yes all right, he was smoker for while, then he decided to quit, he stick with his commitment and he did it for the first serious attempt.. end of story.. :) but then I read title of your stories and noticed that dates didn't match with your smoke free days.. then I started to read your stories from begining and I was very surprised, it was wau effect.. How hard, long and thorny way you did to achieve that milestone.. if I were you I wouldn't be able to do so.. you stayed as my inspiration and I wanted to hear about you at least one more time that you are still on the good way.. And now I saw your post near to mine 10 weeks post and I'm honestly happy.. and I cannot wait to write such post about 1.000 days as you.. that's my long way target.. thank you for your story, for your succesful story.. Love to hear you again in 5 year celebration post.. :) all good to you..
