remember the elephant never forget - once you can go one (1) week without a smoke it all becomes easier - an better! i reached my eleventh year without a smoke some months ago but ima wary about being over-confident - i had a close friend who slipped up 12 years into his nonsmoking effort - so sad - but he can give up again there's no such thing as never!!!!!

    Hi Ollie.

I can't wait to start counting in years, instead of days, weeks, months.

My grandfather was 2 packs a day. In his 40's, he had a massive heart attack, resulting in triple bypass surgery. Was in hospital for so long with no option of smoking, that he came out a non smoker.
But about 10 years later, he started again. Straight back to two packs a day. Thankfully, only went for about a month, then threw them away again. But it is just such a dangerous enemy, we are all wise not to underestimate, and thank you for reminding us.

Adopting the right mindset and understanding you and nicotine will make such a slip less likely. Keep in touch and remember why you chose to be a non-smoker, and all the benefits of being free. Remember by joining us here on a regular basis and taking pride in beating the devil.

Hi Oliver Brooks.Where have you come from and where have you been? So glad to hear from you after 11 years! Agree! Me. just approaching 5 years and better still $40 650 saved from the ash tray. Retail therapy has taken on a new meaning... And I have not even given myself a choice of rewarding me with a cigarette once. You and I know where that would end up. Unfortunately that would mean I would be once again a chain smoker or close. Unfortunately that does not mean having 2 or 3. It means one would return to where they started. what an insidious drug.

Wow. Good on you and good on your mate for 12 years smoke free. Champix can probably help him. I bet he got a shock at the 50 bucks a pack. Thanks also for coming back as someone who succeeded.
