Dealing with Stress

Posted in Quit experiences 14 Feb 2020

Day 10 with absolute thanks. Day 9 started with a support call from a " professional " support worker which proceeded into a massive diference of opinion, being that when i told him i was day 9 and feeling great, he suggested thats good, but to feel better i should start NRT. I once again told him i was feeling great and had no use for NRT. His reasons being that the amount I smoked per day for 53 years, no-one could just give up without an aid of some sort. To say that he pushed my not happy Jan button would be an understatement! We hung up with him being advised not to ring me as i didn't need his negative advice or to continue to assist the Nicotine industry. True Story.! Had to see the Respiratory Specialist in the afternoon who was happy to hear i was 9 days quit, so he proceeded to write me a prescription for NRT, even though my BP was best as it has been for 30years,pulse rate excellent etc. Told him i owed my success to several people, Allan Carr, myself and the wonderful people in this forum. Good thing i'm not paranoid otherwise i might think that Mr. Nic Tine is is gathering his resources to bring this happy camper undone hah! Cheersc all

Too funny :) You are doing fine. Many, myself included, quit after smoking all their life, cold turkey. Nobody makes any money off a cold turkey quit. You are too far along now, to go back to nicotine.. You got this :)
Statistically, more people who quit cold turkey, never went back to smoking.

I'd be cranky too. Sounds like they both were a six pack short of a slab.

They are probably both secret smokers, and just trying to get you back on the sinking ship....

Does'nt make a lot of sense to me. If you are doing ok without NRTs, then why start them now. 10 days is fantastic. You stick to your plan mate, and dont let anyone tell you any different. Well done mate. Be very proud of yourself 🤗👍💕

Stick to your guns, I also quit cold turkey and easily. Anyone who tells you to use nrt when you are happily free of nicotine is crazy. prolonging nicotine use in nrt;s makes it harder overall in my opinion.

Mandella - know that somebody (me) in Austin, Texas is here to support you. I'm day 32 of stopping dipping and smoking. No NRT. You are doing this, and if you need a Yee Haw, or a Howdy from Texas to keep your collective resolve, holler at me.

Thanks all for the love and support. even though i wasn't tempted to pick up, i believe my Norwegian Irish ancestry allowed a little show of temper to distract me. I can sit back and laugh at it now but at the time Grrrr! HaHaHa. A shout to DavidAusTX good to hear from you too Brother

Pretty dumb advice alright to someone who is going good cold turkey. Maybe they don't mean harm, maybe they "think" they know best. However different things work for different people. Keep going strong, to go to NRT now is a step back, so keep on your path which you are succeeding at great by the way!! Stay strong, you are doing amazing, I'm Super proud of you.

Conspiracy in the air. Didn't you know you are not supposed to have rewired your brain without their help! Keep on stronger than before don't let it undo your good work.
